We’re encouraging our epic Batonbearers to take a few pledges to help make the relay more sustainable. During the 29-day relay why not take on challenges such as eating vegan for a month, volunteering at a local climate project, or attending a climate or nature event in your area as part of the Great Big Green Week.

Pledge 1
Get there greener - travel low carbon to my relay stage.
Pledge to use public transport, arrive on foot or by bicycle for travelling to and from your relay stage. If you need to travel by car, bring friends along to share the ride. Top tip: Plan your stages around train stations or bus stops! Let's keep the relay fossil free!

Attend a local climate or nature event for Great Big Green Week
The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
Every year, people come together to unleash a wave of support for action to protect the planet. Tens of thousands of people in every corner of the country celebrate the heartfelt, brave, everyday actions being taken to stand up for nature and fight climate change.
In 2024, Great Big Green Week will take place between 8th and 16th June.

Get together with others in my local community to take positive action.
Pledge to take action together with friends and neighbours, for climate and nature. Set up a new project, encourage others to be green or volunteer with a group that’s already having an impact in your local area. Need inspiration? Well loved - use my existing clothing and trainers for this event.
Be a fashion icon and pledge to get the most out of your kit. Repair what you wear and show us your most well-loved items of clothing. Who can wear the oldest piece of kit to their stage?

I pledge to try the Veganuary campaign!
Veganuary is not just for January - you can give it a go at any time. Sign-up to Veganuary and they'll send you resources via email including their celebrity cookbook, new one-pot meal plan, nutritional advice and lots more.
If eating vegan is for you, then a world of new communities are available to join, including Running Out of Time partner - Vegan Runners - who are the UK's fastest growing athletics club!

Introduce my company to Planet Mark to support our transition to a net zero world.

Introduce my local school(s) to the Let’s Go Zero campaign!
Let’s Go Zero is the national campaign uniting teachers, pupils, parents and their schools as they all work together to be zero carbon by 2030. 2,110 schools, from Glasgow to Belfast, Liverpool to Cardiff, have joined so far.
